Eminent technocrat and former chairman of National Knowledge Commission Satyanarayan Gangaram Pitroda popularly known as Sam Pitroda has been appointed technology advisor to the Odisha Government.
He has been appointed as the technology adviser for development of telecom, electronics, Information Technology, IT Enabled Services sectors of the state. With this appointment he will get the rank of a Cabinet Minister.
About Sam Pitroda
- Born as Satyanarayan Gangaram Pitroda on 4 May 1942 in Titilagarh district of Odisha.
- Pitroda is a telecom engineer, inventor, entrepreneur and policymaker.
- Pitroda launched the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) in 1984 and served as advisor to then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1987 on Technology Missions.
