State owed telecom service provider BSNL has launched the high speed 4G (Fourth Generation) telecom services at Chandigarh in Punjab circle .
With this launch, BSNL became fifth telecom service provider in India to launch 4G service after Airtel (1st), Aircel (2nd), Vodafone (3rd) and Reliance Jio (4th).
About BSNL 4G
- BSNL 4G network will be able to provide high speed data upto 100 Mbps.
- Its customers will be able to download large files of the order of 1 GB within few seconds which at present takes hours on current 2G/3G networks.
- BSNL will also provide 4G services to government agencies for video camera surveillance, traffic management solutions and home- land security service in India.
- BSNL has established 620 wifi hotpsots at present and will be able to complete 2500 wifi hotspots by end of this financial year.
- By end of next fiscal, BSNL is planning to take the total number to 40,000.
- The company after about 4 years of reporting losses, posted an operating profit of Rs. 672 crore for the financial year 2014-15 compared to an operating loss of Rs. 691 crore in the previous fiscal.
BSNL has 4G spectrum across India except in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kolkata.
