India, Pakistan exchange lists of nuclear facilities

India and Pakistan have exchanged the list of their nuclear installations and facilities under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear installations.
This exchange is done on 1st of January every year between the two neighboring countries that bars them from attacking each other’s atomic facilities.
This is the 25th consecutive exchange of such list between the two countries, the first one having taken place on 1 January 1992.
Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear installations
- It bilateral agreement signed between India and Pakistan that bars them from carrying out any surprise attack (or to assist foreign power to attack) on each other’s nuclear installations and facilities.
- It was signed on 31st December 1988 and entered into force on 27 January 1991. It was signed by then Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and his Pakistani counterpart Benazir Bhutto.
- Under it both countries inform each other about their nuclear installations and facilities that need to be covered under the Agreement on 1 January every year.

India-Pakistan Flag Meeting decides to defuse situation on LoC

The Brigade Commander level flag meeting between the Indian Army and Pakistani Army was held at Chakkan-Da-Bagh Cross LoC point in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Field commanders from both countries discussed about the volatile situation prevailing along the Line of Control, which has arisen due to the recent unprecedented spurt in incidents of ceasefire violations.
The Indian side, apart from emphasising the need for maintaining ceasefire agreement, is expected to take up the issue of infiltration of militants from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir with the support of Pakistani Army.

India, Pakistan agree to maintain peace along border after DG level talks

India and Pakistan have started a three-day Director General (DG)-level border dialogue in New Delhi.
Director General (DG) Border Security Force (BSF) D K Pathak is leading 23 member Indian delegation and his counterpart Major General Umar Farooq Burki, DG of Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) is leading a 16 members Pakistani delegation.
Both the delegations also have representatives from respective Home and Foreign ministries along with officers from narcotics control and survey department.
In this dialogue both sides have
- Decided to devise new strategies along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) to put an end to incidents of ceasefire violations.
- Agreed maintenance of peace and tranquillity on the border is the most important issue and this needs to be implemented on the ground.
India also has suggested that rather than debating and contesting about the past incidents, both sides should work on a future strategy in order to make the border peaceful and safe for the troops and civilians alike.
