Union Cabinet gives for formation of Indian Skill Development Service

ISDS will be a Group A Service of the technical cadre of the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSD&E).
Earlier ISDS was called as the Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGET) which functioned under the aegis of Union Ministry of Labour Employment. This decision will help to enhance the capacity and efficiency of the organisation.
The new cadre will also encourage the officers to push the mandate of job creation which has been one of the key thrust areas of Union Government.

India, Germany ink 18 MoUs and agreements in various sectors

India and Germany have signed around 18 agreements and memorandum of understanding (MoUs) in various sectors.
These agreements were signed at the end of third edition of Indo-German Inter-governmental Consultations (ICG) in New Delhi.
The Indo-German ICG was co-chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his visiting counterpart German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Some important agreements signed are
- Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) on Languages: It seeks to promote German as a foreign language in India and promote modern Indian Languages in Germany.

Union Cabinet gives nod to amend MoU on Indo-German Partnerships in Higher Education

The Union Cabinet gave its approval for minor amendments in earlier MoU signed to facilitate implementation of Indo-German Strategic Partnerships in Higher Education Programme.
Decision in this regard was taken by Union Cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
In order to make changes, a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDI) between India and Germany will be signed for implementation of Indo-German Strategic Partnerships in Higher Education programme.
Following are the changes
- The term strategic from MoU will be deleted from the title of the programme to make it Indo-German Partnership in Higher Education.
- Funding period of the programme will be changed from 2015-19 to 2016-20. Now it will be from 1 July 2016 to 30 June, 2020.
