Apurvi Chandela set world record in 10m air rifle at Swedish Cup Grand Prix

Indian shooter Apurvi Chandela broke the world record on way to winning gold in the women’s 10 metre air rifle event at the Swedish Cup Grand Prix.
Apurvi Chandela set the new record after winning gold medal in the women’s 10 metre air rifle event shooting score of 211.2. Her winning score has surpassed previous world record of 211 score set by Chinese Olympic gold medallist Yi Siling.
In the Swedish Cup Grand Prix, silver and bronze went to Swedish shooters Astrid Steffensen and Stine Nielsen respectively.
Chandela, seventh in the world rankings, has already qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics last year, having won the bronze in the 10m air rifle event in the World Cup (Rifle/Pistol) in Changwon, South Korea. Earlier in December 2015 Chandela had won the gold in the National Championships representing Rajasthan.

Apurvi Chandela wins gold medal at National Shooting Championship

Apurvi Chandela from Rajasthan has won a Gold medal in the 59th National Shooting Championship in Delhi.
She won the gold medal in 10-metre Air Rifle event in women’s category by shooting 207.8 score in the finals. She was followed by Geetakshi Dixit (Rajasthan) at second spot and Anjum Moudgil (Haryana) at third spot.
Winners of other Categories
- Men’s 50-metre Rifle 3 Positions event: Chain Singh (Indian Army) won the gold medal. Gagan Narang (Air India) won the Silver medal.
- Junior men’s 25m sports pistol: Achal Pratap Singh Grewal (Gold), Gurmeet Singh (Silver), Aadeithya Johal (Bronze).
- Junior women’s 10m air rifle: Geetakshi Dixit (Gold), Prachi Pramod Gadkari (Silver) and Nupur Hagawane Patil (Bronze).
- Youth: Nupur Hagawane Patil (Gold), Ayushi Podder (Silver) and Manini Kaushik (Bronze).

Vijay Kumar wins gold medal at 59th National Shooting Championship

Olympic medallist Vijay Kumar of Indian Army has won gold medal at the 59th National Shooting Championship held in New Delhi.
He won the gold medal in the men’s 25-metre centre fire pistol category by shooting a combined score of 588 over the rapid and precision rounds.
Gurpreet Singh of Indian Army finished second with a 586 score winning silver medal and Pemba Tamang managed to secure the third place with 582 score winning bronze medal.
Other winners in the Championship are
- 25m standard pistol event: Gurpreet Singh (Indian Army).
- Rapid fire pistol: Pemba Tamang (Indian Army).
- Air pistol & Standard pistol events: Achal Pratap Singh Grewal.
It should be noted that Vijay Kumar had won the silver medal in the 25m rapid fire pistol event at the 2012 Olympics held in London.

Heena Sindhu won gold in 13th Asian Shooting Championship

India’s Heena Sidhu has won Gold medal in 10 metre Air Pistol event in women’s category at 13th Asian Shooting Championships held in Kuwait. In the final match, Heena shot 198.2 score to defeat Gundegma Otreyad of Mongolia who shot 198 winning Silver medal. Jangmi Kim of South Korea won the bronze with a score of 176.2.Other medal winners at 13th Asian Shooting Championships:-
- 10m air pistol junior women’s event: Shri Nivetha of India won a gold medal with a score of 195.8. She defeated Shinemurun Nyamdorj of Mongolia (195.4) and Heesun Kim of Korea (174.4) who have won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
- 10M air pistol uouth women’s team event: Indian trio of Harshada Nithave (374), Nayani Bharadwaj (374) and Malaika Goel (365) won the gold medal in this team event. Mongoloia won the silver medal and South Korea won the bronze medal.
- 25m pistol men’s junior event: Shivam Shukla of India won gold medal by shooting a score of 576. Jungwoo Park (575) and Jaekyoon Lee (572) both from South Korea claimed the silver and bronze medals respectively.
- Junior skeet men’s competition: Angad Bajwa of India won the individual gold medal. In the team event of this category, Angad Bajwa (121), Anant Naruka (112) and Arjun Mann (114) shot a total score of 347 winning team gold medal.

Jitu Rai wins silver medal in 13th Asian Shooting Championship

Ace Indian shooter Jitu Rai has won silver medal in 50 metre pistol event category at the 13th Asian Shooting Championship in Kuwait City.
With this he became India’s first senior player to win the Asian Shooting Championship.
In the final, he lost to South Korea’s Park Daehun who shot record score of 199.2 to clinch the gold medal. Jitu Rai scored 189.5 points to settle at second position.
In the junior events of the championships, India has bagged total four silver and two Bronze medals. In the women’s 25 metre pistol event, Gauri Sheoran, Heena Sidhu and Annu Raj Singh were not able to qualify for the finals.

Heena Sidhu wins gold medal at Asian Air Gun Championships

India’s ace shooter Heena Sidhu has clinched a Gold medal in the 10-metre air pistol event of the Asian Air Gun Championships in New Delhi.In this event, Heena shot a total of 197.8 points to finish at the top of the podium to win the gold medal. Shweta Singh of India by scoring total of 197 points won Silver medal. While South Korea’s Seon A Kim won the Bronze medal. Yashaswini Singh Deshwal of India was placed at fourth position.
It should be noted that Heena Sidhu is former world number one (as on April 2014) and was India’s first pistol shooter to be ranked number one in the world.
In the 2015 Asian Air Gun Championships held in New Delhi, India has emerged on the top with total medal tally of 17 medals, including 6 Gold. While Iran finished second

India’s Gurpreet Singh wins silver medal at 2015 Asian Air Gun Championship

India’s ace shooter Gurpreet Singh has won silver medal at 2015 Asian Air Gun Championship held in New Delhi.
In the finals of 10 metre Air Pistol event, Gurpreet shot a tally of 197.6 to stand second on the podium. India’s Jitu Rai finished at third position wining bronze medal in this event.
The gold medal in the 10 metre Air Pistol event was bagged by Boroujeni Safari of Iran with a tally shot of 198.7.
It should be noted that this fourth medal India has won in 2015 Asian Air Gun Championship. Earlier, Abhinav Bindra had clinched the gold in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle event while Ayonika Pual won the bronze in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle event.
