International Indigenous Terra Madre- 2015 begins in Shillong

International Indigenous Terra Madre- 2015 kicked off in Shillong, Meghalaya with theme The Future We Want: Indigenous Perspectives and Actions.
The five day-long unique event will bring over a 100 tribes from 58 countries including from 17 Asian countries, 14 African countries, 12 American countries, 8 European countries and 7 Oceania countries.
Key facts
- It has been organised as collaboration between Slow Food, North East Slow Food and Agro biodiversity Society (NESFAS) and Indigenous Partnership for Agro biodiversity and Food Sovereignty (Indigenous Partnership).
- The five-day international fiesta will celebrate the biological and cultural diversity of indigenous communities as expressed in their songs, folklores, dance, dress and food systems that have evolved and passed on from generation to generation in close interaction with nature.
Tera Madre is a network of Indigenous food communities involved in promotion of Indigenous culture as well as conservation of bio-diversity.
National Tribal Crafts Mela Aadishilp-2015 begins in New Delhi

11th National Tribal Crafts Mela Aadishilp has begun in New Delhi. It was inaugurated by Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram.
This edition of Crafts Mela has been organised by Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) and will be open till November 11, 2015.
More than 90 tribal artisans from all over the country are going showcase their unique and exquisite tribal artefacts.
The main objective of Aadishilp is provide tribal artisans an important platform to showcase their talents through their valuable products to urban India. Tribals will be also able to sell their traditional art and craft works directly to the customers and get their valuable feedback.
The mela will showcase hand crafted items, handloom products, cane and bamboo products, dry flowers, tribal jewellery, Dhokra craft, tribal paintings, tribal weaves and embroidery etc.
