Union Government has appointed former Chief Justice of Patna High Court Justice L Narasimha Reddy as head judicial committee on One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme.
The one member judicial committee will look into the implementation of OROP scheme for retired defence personnel.
Highlights of OROP
- OROP scheme is to ensure uniform pension is paid to defence personnel who retire at the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
- It will be implemented from July 1, 2014 and the base year would be 2013.
- All family pensioners including those getting Spl/Liberalized family pension & Gallantry award winners to get arrears in 1 installment.
- Pension of ex-servicemen will be revised every five years.
- Arrears will be paid in four equal half yearly installments.
- Personnel who retire voluntarily will not be covered under OROP scheme.
