In the presidential election,Kabore won the vote in the first round with 53.49 per cent of ballots, which was enough to secure a first round victory. His nearest competitor Zephirin Diabre, a former economy and finance minister secured 29.65 per cent
About Roch Marc Christian Kabore
- Prior to entering politics Kabore was banker and had worked for the International Bank of Burkina (BIB). He had served as Prime Minister of Burkina Faso from 1994 to 1996 and also was President of the National Assembly of Burkina Faso from 2002 to 2012.
- In January 2014, he left the ruling Congress for Democracy and Progress (CDP) and founded a new opposition party, the People's Movement for Progress.
