Legendary actor Dilip Kumar (93) has been conferred with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, country’s second highest civilian award.
It was bestowed upon him by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his residence in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
Union Government had selected veteran actor for the Padma Vibhushan on the eve of 66th Republic Day.

He was born as Muhammad Yusuf Khan on 11 December 1922 in Peshawar, Pakistan
He spent his childhood in Maharashtra and left home to start a canteen before he was picked up as a potential actor.
Hindi author Bhagwati Charan Varma gave him the screen name Dilip Kumar.
His debut film was Jwar Bhata of 1944 produced by Bombay Talkies
He started second inning in film industry in 1981 with Kranti and his last appearance was in Qila of 1998.
He is famously known as Tragedy King and Oscar winning filmmaker Satyajit Ray had described him as the ultimate method actor.
He shot to fame with films like Naya Daur, Jugnu, Andaz, Devdasm, Madhumati and Mughal-E-Azam.
He was nominated as Indian National Congress Candidate from Maharashtra State as member of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Indian parliament for a term frim April 2000 to April 2006.
