Significance: The International Day of Peace acknowledges the efforts of those who have strived to end conflict and promote peace. This day is also observed as a day of ceasefire.
The United Nations calls all nations and people to devote this day to strengthen the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.
About International Day of Peace
- The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by a passage of resolution 36/67 of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The first Peace Day was observed in September 1982.
