China has successfully launched a newly-developed smaller version of carrier rocket Long March-6 as part of the country’s space program.
It was launched from the base in the Northern Province of Shanxi and was carrying 20 micro satellites into the space.
About Long March-6
- High: 29.3 metres (97 feet)
- Developed: It was developed by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation
- Eco-friendly: Long March-6 uses fuel composed of liquid oxygen and kerosene, which is said to be free of toxicity and pollution.
- Engine: It is powered by a YF-100 engine.
- Diameter: 3.35 m (11.0 ft)
- Name: China’s “Long March” rocket family is named after an epic journey by Communist forces escaping the then ruling Kuomintang in the 1930s.
Use:
- It will be used for “experiments” in technology and new products.
- Long March-6 would be capable of placing a tonne of payload into orbit at a height of 700 kilometres (434 miles).
